In 2003, we opened Mama’s on the Half Shell. Our opening day was the realization of five years of dreaming, discussing and collecting. It is our hope that when you are with us you feel you are welcomed into our home with open arms. There really is no average age at Mama’s on the Half Shell, making it a true destination for great food and celebration.

As native “Baltimoreans,” we felt Baltimore was in need of a thoughtful, classic seafood restaurant. Because of our love for the restaurant business, one of our favorite pastimes is to dine out. What we found was we missed the classics; the ones that we could count on as kids. Iconic restaurants like Connolly’s & Hausner’s, the ones we would visit with friends from out of town who say “take us to a real Baltimore seafood house.” We missed that emotional attachment and wanted to bring it back. That’s why we created Mama’s on the Half Shell.

Our menu is the most important part of our restaurant, but we also want our guests to come in and feel comfortable for any occasion. Be it a business meeting, Sunday football, a birthday, anniversary or just some time out. It’s a great place to visit after a day on the water and it’s also remembered by some as the place where they got engaged. Our restaurant is a place that you could “bring it or bring it down.”

For a good start to a classic Baltimore meal at Mama’s, order a fried crab cake with mustard and our famous Orange Crush. Have a seat at the raw bar and just drift back into your best Baltimore memory, hon! Or…create a new one."

Stopped at this gem on a roadtrip back from North Carolina. Not too far off the I-95. Great area for other cute places to stop. The food was amazing! I got for appetizers the crab dip and crab eggrolls. The crab dip was so full of chucks of whole crab and tons of cheese! I will dream about this one! The eggrolls weren't as good as I thought.

However, the crab sandwich was the best crab sandwich I have ever eaten! Definitely defines Maryland crabs!

Our waitress was super nice and service was great! The place overall is historic and a lot of history there!

Located in such a cute area of Baltimore, my friend recommended this restaurant for seafood and I was so impressed! I loved the ambiance, victorian style with lots of history on their walls, plus tvs. I sat at the bar and the waiter was really sweet and attentive!

As for food, I ordered a crush mocktail, a variety of their oysters - mamas wild ass salts, shoregasms, Delaware bay, blue point, and walrus & carpenter. I slurped the oysters with and without the horse radish and cocktail sauce because it was that fresh. The crab cake was packed with crab meat and the Mac n cheese was perfect. What a great dinner!

Stopped by for a quick lunch and had a great visit! John was super attentive, friendly and gave all his recommendations as it was my first time visiting. I settled on the cream of crab soup and the salmon BLT. The cream of crab soup was sweet, creamy and full of crab. It was one of my favorites that I've tried! The salmon BLT sandwich was HUGE! A nice, large piece of salmon with the rest of the fresh ingredients made this meal a 10/10.
